Honda Research Institute USA announced plans for a $2.6 million investment in a new lab at The Ohio State University SciTech campus in Columbus.

Honda said the new lab is set to open later this year and will “support collaborative research and data-driven innovation for future Honda technologies.”

Research will focus on carbon capture and next-generation electric vehicle batteries, among other technologies.

In 2023, Honda invested $15 million in Ohio State’s Battery Cell R&D Center on the SciTech campus.

The Columbus Blue Jackets open the 2025-26 regular season tonight on the road against the Nashville Predators after narrowly missing last season’s playoffs.

Columbus announced its 22-man roster on Tuesday, featuring 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders. Boone Jenner returns as captain after missing the first 56 games last season because of injury.

Elvis Merzlikins and Jet Greaves are the goaltenders. Merzlikins is a longtime Blue Jackets veteran, and Greaves is coming off a strong finish during the team’s late season push for the playoffs.

Columbus won’t play at home until Oct. 13 against New Jersey, but Nationwide Arena will feature several new food options for fans, such as Mediterranean nachos, umami fries, and a CBJ-exclusive cream puff from Schmidt’s Sausage Haus.

America’s River Roots Festival runs through Oct. 12, celebrating 250 years of American culture with riverboats, live music, regional food, and cultural events along the Ohio River.

It is billed as the nation’s largest collection of riverboats, according to the festival website. Historic riverboats include the 111-year-old Belle of Louisville and others that sailed from as far as Tennessee and Louisiana.

Live music, local food, markets, and cultural events are on tap throughout the week. Guest speakers will cover the history of America’s river cities, and the directors of the city’s opera, symphony, and ballet will lead a session titled “Arts in the Queen City.”
