DOJ Investigates OSU Medical School

The Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine over whether it discriminated against applicants based on race.

In a letter to the university’s Office of Legal Affairs, the DOJ said the Title VI probe could be closed, resolved through “informal voluntary” compliance measures, or lead to suspended federal funding and civil action.

The DOJ requested data be handed over, including standardized test scores, demographic information, citizenship status, and other materials tied to applications for incoming classes from 2019 through 2026.

Federal officials launched a Title VI investigation in March 2025 into Ohio State and other universities over alleged antisemitic harassment and discrimination.

Cleveland Releases Vision for Lakefront Airport

Cleveland and the North Coast Waterfront Development Corp. released initial findings for a low-density, recreation-focused redevelopment of Burke Lakefront Airport as city leaders push to close the site and expand waterfront access.

The $600 million concept includes urban parks, a golf course, a 180-acre youth sports complex, restaurants, and RV parking.

Aviation leaders, including organizers of the Cleveland Air Show, have pushed back on the proposed closure, urging the city to consider compromises that expand lakefront access while keeping the airport open.

The city is also promoting a resident survey on social media to gather feedback on the airport’s future. You can submit feedback here.

A&E Series Flips Central Ohio Homes

The first season of a new A&E home renovation show will focus on flipping “zombie” houses in central Ohio.

Zombie House Flipping: Family Business will take on distressed properties in Pickerington, Grandview, Blacklick Estates, Plain City, Merion Village, North Linden, Clintonville, and Galloway.

A spokesperson for the show said house flipper Tommy Harr prioritized transforming vacant houses that have upset neighbors into beautiful designer homes.

Harr also posted on social media that the series will feature some of the “craziest” house transformations. It premieres May 30 at 11 a.m. on A&E.
