The U.S. Supreme Court declined to overturn the 2023 bribery conviction and 20-year prison sentence of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder.

Householder said he plans to seek a pardon from President Trump.

The convictions of Householder, along with former Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges, stemmed from a pay-to-play bribery scheme involving Akron-based utility FirstEnergy.

Borges received a five-year sentence and was transferred from prison to a halfway house in October.

A school district investigation found former coach Mark Marinelli inflated Olentangy Liberty High School wrestlers’ win-loss records to secure better postseason seeding.

Marinelli, who resigned April 10 after 19 seasons with the Patriots, has denied cheating and said he relied on various online sites to keep records.

The investigation found inflated win totals for 73 wrestlers over six seasons.

Questions about the win-loss records surfaced at the 2025 sectional seeding meeting, during which coaches could challenge records they believed were incorrect.
