Almanac Forecasts Cooler Autumn

Ohio may get an early taste of fall as The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cooler-than-normal September across the Ohio Valley and Lower Lakes before temperatures settle closer to average in October.

For Cincinnati and much of central and southern Ohio, the Ohio Valley forecast calls for a drier fall, with rainfall totals up to 3 inches below normal in western areas and slightly below normal farther east.

Northeast Ohio’s Lower Lakes outlook projects September temperatures about 2 degrees below normal, followed by October precipitation roughly 1 inch below average.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s September-through-November outlook, meanwhile, favors warmer-than-normal conditions in Ohio. Meteorological fall begins Sept. 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

Beehive Expands Jet Engine Production

Beehive Industries will invest $70 million in southwest Ohio, creating more than 200 jobs as it expands domestic production of 3D-printed jet engines for uncrewed military aircraft.

The company recently acquired two Greater Cincinnati precision machine shops and plans to manufacture more than 8,000 engines annually.

The expansion follows a $29.7 million Air Force contract supporting Beehive’s Frenzy engine family and a major increase in the company’s metal additive manufacturing capacity.

The announcement comes as Electra advances a separate $850 million aircraft plant in Springfield that is expected to create 1,975 jobs and produce its nine-passenger EL9 aircraft.

State Fair Finishes Renovations

The Ohio Expo Center has completed a $460 million overhaul, opening two new buildings, four renovated facilities, and a redesigned Town Square for the 2026 Ohio State Fair.

The multiyear project required demolition, construction, and temporary exhibit moves. New attractions include the Ohio Showcase Building—with a state history exhibit and a six-vendor food hall—and the Ohio Agriculture Center.

The fair’s familiar food spectacle also returns, with new deviled egg flavors celebrating America’s 250th anniversary—including birthday cake, hot dog, and apple pie.

The 171st fair runs July 29-Aug. 9, with tickets starting at $9.
