Paper Mill Closure Paused

The planned closure of the 800-worker Pixelle paper mill in Chillicothe has been paused until the end of 2025, U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno announced Friday.

While the pause offers relief, Moreno cautioned that the mill’s future is not guaranteed beyond 2025. He noted the mill’s importance to the local economy and said the focus now shifts to finding a long-term solution for the facility and its workers.

Moreno, Gov. Mike DeWine, and U.S. Sen. Jon Husted spoke about the mill at a press conference on Friday, with DeWine saying state leaders were caught off guard by the mill’s closure announcement.

Fellow Coaches Honor Cavs’ Atkinson

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson was named the 2025 National Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in his first season with the team.

Atkinson led the Cavs to a 64-18 regular-season record, securing the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed and the franchise’s first 60-win season since 2009-10. Cleveland also set a team record with 30 road victories.

Atkinson made NBA history as the first head coach to start 15-0 with a new team, and the Cavaliers recorded three of the league’s four longest winning streaks this season.
