The Ohio Senate passed its version of the state budget, introducing several changes from the House plan. It now heads to a conference committee for further negotiations.

Key differences include a proposed flat income tax and an expansion of the homestead exemption for property tax relief.

The Senate’s plan would also use unclaimed funds to help finance a new Cleveland Browns stadium instead of borrowing through bonds or increasing sports gambling taxes.

A budget is expected to be signed by Gov. Mike DeWine by June 30, following negotiations between the House and Senate.
