Article Icon 1Ohio Towns Celebrate Independence Day

Communities across Ohio are set to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and festivals, many of which are scheduled for this evening. You can see a list of celebrations here.

In Columbus, Red, White, & BOOM! will light up the state capital starting at 10 p.m., and it is billed as the largest Independence Day celebration in the Midwest. More information about the event is available here.

A three-day festival under the same name starts tonight in Conneaut at Lake Erie. Bowling Green and Findlay in northwest Ohio will also put on fireworks shows this evening.

In the southern part of the state, Jackson, Zanesville, Kettering, Hillsboro, and Mason are among the towns celebrating our nation’s independence on July 3.

Article Icon 1Court Orders DeWine to Seek Unused Funds

The 10th District Court of Appeals unanimously ruled Monday that Gov. Mike DeWine must try to claim $900 million in unused pandemic unemployment funds he declined in 2021.

The three-judge panel upheld a lower court ruling, with one judge writing that DeWine must secure all unemployment benefits available under the Social Security Act for Ohioans.

DeWine has 45 days to appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court.

The Historic Buxton Inn in Granville, first opened in 1812, is now on the market with an asking price of $5.85 million.

Purchased for $1.8 million in 2014, the inn has since undergone a significant restoration project.

The property includes five buildings, 25 guest rooms, a commercial kitchen, an original stone tavern, a wine cellar, and more.

Spanning more than 24,000 square feet on more than one acre, the Buxton Inn once served as Granville’s first post office. You can see photos of the inn here.
