Ohio Eagle Distributing, a beer distributor based in West Chester, announced plans to sell its assets, affecting 178 employees across two locations.

The company employs 124 workers at its West Chester site and 54 at its Lima facility.

President Devyn Dugger stated the separations are permanent but that the buyer may offer employment opportunities to affected workers.

Employment terminations are expected to take effect around Sept. 8.

Article Icon 1Judge Rules Grant for Ohio College Unconstitutional

A West Virginia judge ruled that a $5 million Water Development Authority grant to Ohio-based College of St. Joseph the Worker violates the state constitution.

St. Joseph the Worker planned to use the grant to expand into Weirton, West Virginia, support new construction projects, renovate dilapidated buildings, and provide on-the-job training for students.

The Steubenville trade school offers a Catholic Studies degree that includes training in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and HVAC.

The ACLU argued that the grant was unconstitutional because Catholic Studies is the only degree offered at the college. Republican Delegate Pat McGeehan said the funding would benefit local youth and help restore historic structures.
