Article Icon 1Bill Would Protect Students’ Food Stamps

U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, proposed a measure to allow career and technical education students aged 18 to 21 to work part-time without jeopardizing their food stamp benefits.

Currently, the rules count student earnings from work-based programs toward family income, which can reduce or eliminate benefits. The bill would exempt those wages from eligibility calculations.

Husted’s office estimates that the rules have discouraged as many as 50,000 prospective students from joining career and technical education programs.

The bill awaits a review by the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.

Ohio’s whitetail deer are being hit by an outbreak of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD), especially in southeastern counties such as Athens and Washington.

Clint McCoy, a longtime deer biologist with the state Department of Natural Resources, called the EHD outbreak the most severe he has seen in more than a decade.

Farmers in Coolville estimated their local deer herds have been reduced by about 90%.

The disease is spread by small biting flies called midges and causes fatal internal bleeding. There is no cure, with the outbreaks usually ending when frost kills the midges.

The U.S. men’s national soccer team plays Japan in a pre-World Cup exhibition match tonight at Lower.com Field in Columbus. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the match televised on TNT.

Columbus is a frequent host to the U.S. team’s games, having hosted 14 previous matches.

Japan and the U.S. last met in a 2022 friendly, a 2-0 win for the Japanese. Japan enters today’s match ranked No. 17 in FIFA’s men’s rankings and is coming off a 0-0 draw with Mexico.

On Saturday in Harrison, New Jersey, the U.S. team fell 2-0 to South Korea, with concerns growing over the team’s preparedness for next year’s World Cup. The team has lost six straight to top-25 FIFA teams.

Former Zillow Exec Opens Door to $1.3T Market

Austin Allison sold his first company for $120M. He later served as an executive for Zillow. Both companies reached massive valuations before everyday investors could get in.

“I always wished everyday investors could have shared in their early success,” Allison later said. So he built Pacaso differently.

Pacaso brings co-ownership to the $1.3T vacation home market, earning $110M+ in gross profit in under five years. No wonder the same early investors who backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay already invested in Pacaso.

Now, after adding 10 new international destinations, Pacaso is hitting its stride. It even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

And unlike his previous ventures, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company. But you don’t have time to waste. Invest before Pacaso’s opportunity ends on Sept. 18.

This is a paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Please read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving the ticker is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals.
