Article Icon 1  Ohio Stands Out in NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft kicked off Thursday, with Cleveland and Cincinnati selecting defensive players, and four Ohio State players going in the first round. See the draft results here.

Cleveland picked at No. 5 after trading the No. 2 position to Jacksonville, and the Browns chose defensive tackle Mason Graham, who led all Michigan defensive linemen with 45 tackles in 2024.

Cincinnati picked at No. 17, taking defensive end Shemar Stewart of Texas A&M. Stewart ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, the third fastest at his position.

The Ohio State players drafted were wide receiver Emeka Egbuka by Tampa Bay, offensive guard Donovan Jackson by Minnesota, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams by Detroit, and offensive tackle Josh Simmons by Kansas City.

Article Icon 1Railroad Found Solely Liable for Derailment

An Ohio jury ruled that Norfolk Southern is solely responsible for the $600 million settlement with East Palestine residents following a 2023 train derailment, rejecting the railroad’s attempt to pass on part of the cost to railcar company GATX.

GATX, which owned the railcar that triggered the crash, argued Norfolk Southern was responsible for operating and inspecting the train.  Last year, Norfolk Southern lost a lawsuit seeking cleanup payments from GATX and vinyl chloride manufacturer OxyVinyls.

This week, Norfolk Southern reported $750 million in first-quarter earnings, aided by $141 million in insurance payments for the East Palestine derailment, which caused fires that burned for days and forced the evacuation of residents within 2 miles.

Article Icon 1Wildlife Officers Honored

State wildlife officers Isaiah Gifford and Matt Roberts received a national award for their investigation into a high-profile deer poaching case.

It is the first time Ohio officers received the Pope and Young Club’s Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer Award, which recognizes outstanding enforcement in big-game wildlife cases.

The pair’s investigation resulted in the conviction of Christopher J. Alexander, who shot an 18-point trophy buck in 2023. Alexander was ordered to pay about $35,000 in restitution.

Japanese Water Soluble Plastic Has American Competition

Japan’s RIKEN institute recently unveiled a plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours — a breakthrough in the fight against pollution. But Florida-based Timeplast may have quietly surpassed it.

With seven patents and a proprietary process called “molecular disintegration,” Timeplast’s plastics dissolve not just in seawater, but also in freshwater, rain, humidity, and soil. Unlike traditional solutions, these materials leave no microplastics behind and maintain the strength of conventional plastics. Already used in 3D-printing and flexible composites, Timeplast’s lineup is versatile and scalable.

They’re on a mission to revolutionize multiple industries:

  • Packaging

  • 3D Printing

  • Healthcare

  • Agriculture

  • Consumer Goods

  • Marine

  • Construction

  • Retail & Events

As you can see, the market potential is enormous ($1.3T in total). That’s just one reason why they’ve already attracted over 6,000 investors.

This is your opportunity to join Timeplast as they lead a plastic revolution with global implications. Become a Timeplast shareholder now.
