Article Icon 1Moreno Wants Steel Tariffs Expanded

U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno urged the Commerce Department to expand Section 232 tariffs on steel derivatives, citing the need to support U.S. steel manufacturers and workers.

In a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Moreno argued that rising imports from four Asian countries have evaded the tariffs enacted in 2018, undermining domestic manufacturers that use U.S. steel.

Moreno added that U.S. manufacturers can meet the growing demand for American-made appliances. You can read his full letter here.

Meanwhile, President Trump announced a trade deal with the United Kingdom that will cut tariffs on steel, automobiles, and aluminum.
