The Cleveland Guardians won the American League Central after trailing Detroit by 15.5 games, but the Tigers had the final word by winning the elimination game of the three-game AL wild-card series.

Massillon native and former Ohio State catcher Dillon Dingler’s 401-foot home run in the sixth inning gave Detroit a 2-1 lead, and the Tigers added four insurance runs in the seventh en route to a 6-3 win.

Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi threw just 2 1/3 innings, striking out three batters and allowing one run. Cleveland used eight pitchers in total.
