Ohio Leaders Attend King Charles III Ceremony

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and first lady Fran DeWine were seated in the front row at a White House ceremony on Tuesday, welcoming Britain’s King Charles III to the nation’s capital. Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman also attended.

DeWine thanked President Trump on social media for the invitation, saying, “Moments like these remind us of the importance of the strong partnership and shared values between our nations.”

Trump’s speech on the South Lawn emphasized the shared culture and “Anglo-Saxon courage” of the British and Americans. Trump and first lady Melania Trump later welcomed the king and queen to a state dinner Tuesday night.

King Charles III’s visit marks the first state visit by a reigning British monarch since Queen Elizabeth II’s state visit in May 2007, and it’s the first by a reigning British king since King George VI in 1939.

Track Star Sues Puma, Mercedes F1

Dublin native and U.S. track-and-field athlete Abby Steiner filed a lawsuit against Puma and the Mercedes Formula 1 team over a shoe design she says contributed to the end of her career.

Steiner’s lawsuit alleges Puma and Mercedes knew the design could cause bone stress injuries, increase the risk of foot injuries, and place more strain on athletes.

Steiner says she began wearing the shoe in September 2022 and later developed “severe and permanent injuries resulting in multiple surgeries, rehabilitations, and recovery” that ended her career.

She hasn’t competed since missing out on an Olympic spot in 2024 and undergoing two additional surgeries on her left foot. Steiner holds the American indoor records in the 200- and 300-meter sprints.

Union Pacific Announces Big Boy Ohio Stops

The eastern leg of the tour for the historic Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014—the world’s largest operating steam locomotive—has been announced, with multiple stops planned in the Buckeye State.

The 133-foot-long locomotive, the only one of its kind still on the rails, completed its western tour in March and will now use Norfolk Southern track to head east for the first time since it rolled out of New York in 1941.

Big Boy No. 4014 will first arrive in Continental on June 6 before traveling through Fostoria, Bellevue, Lorain, Euclid, and Conneaut. On its return trip in July, the locomotive will travel through Struthers and Rocky River, as well as Conneaut, Fostoria, and Continental again.
