Werenski Touts US Pride After Olympics

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski joined Fox & Friends on Tuesday with U.S. men’s hockey teammate Dylan Larkin to discuss the Olympics and representing the United States.

Werenski, who assisted the game-winning goal against Canada in the gold medal game, said after traveling internationally, “You get reminded of how great the United States of America is when you get back here. And we love representing our country, we love wearing those colors.”

The Blue Jackets defenseman credited the American military for the ability to live out his hockey dreams, and he called the U.S. the “best country in the world.”

Werenski and the U.S. men’s hockey team also toured the White House on Tuesday, posing for a photo with President Trump, before attending the State of the Union Address that night. Werenski was expected to join the Blue Jackets in Boston on Wednesday ahead of tonight’s game against the Bruins.

Columbus Targets Immigration Enforcement

The Columbus City Council on Monday passed emergency measures and a resolution aimed at limiting federal immigration enforcement in the city.

Council members voted to restrict cooperation with federal immigration agencies, bar federal officers from using city-owned property, and create first-degree misdemeanor penalties for harassment.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost called the measures a “political stunt,” saying they’re as legally enforceable as the media advisory issued earlier this month.

During Tuesday’s State of the Union address, President Trump, speaking about the deportations of “criminal aliens,” said Democrats are “blocking the removal of these people from our country,” and “should be ashamed” of themselves.
