Question: Ohio went to war, sort of, with which bordering U.S. state?
Answer: Michigan. The Toledo War was an 1835 border dispute between the State of Ohio and the Territory of Michigan over the Toledo Strip, which included a key trading port at the mouth of the Maumee River. Ohio and Michigan both mobilized militias, and at the Battle of Phillips Corners, the Michigan militia fired shots in the direction of Ohio surveyors before arresting them.
