Question: Where did Ohio’s lone Civil War battle take place?

Answer: Buffington Island on the Ohio River. On July 19, 1863, nearly 2,000 Confederate soldiers under John Hunt Morgan fought 3,000 Union troops led by Gen. Edward Henry Hobson. Within three hours, there were 55 Union casualties and 1,175 Confederate troops wounded, killed, or captured. Morgan surrendered eight days later near Salineville.
