State leaders confirmed that Vantage Data Centers will build a $2.1 billion data center near state routes 204 and 37 in Millersport, creating 37 full-time jobs.

In May, Fairfield County commissioners approved a 500-acre annexation from Walnut Township for the project. Originally estimated at $1 billion, the project is now envisioned to be twice the initial size, Gov. Mike DeWine said.

Earlier this summer, some Millersport residents raised concerns about population growth, increased traffic, and potential harm to the village’s culture.

Vantage will receive a 10-year, 50% tax exemption on purchases related to the project, the company’s second site in central Ohio after a New Albany location that broke ground a year ago.
