Article Icon 1Economy Top Concern in BGSU Poll

A Bowling Green State University/YouGov survey found the economy ranked as the most important issue for registered voters ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address.

A four-person research team in the school’s Department of Political Science developed, ordered, tested, and analyzed the poll.

The economy was cited by 42%, followed by threats to democracy (32%), health care (31%), immigration (31%), and inflation (29%). You can view the complete results here.

In other results, about 51% of Republican respondents said they’d support Ohio native Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 presidential race, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a distant second place.

Among Democrats, California Gov. Gavin Newsom held a slight edge over former Vice President Kamala Harris, followed by New York U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Article Icon 1Fleeing Suspect Found in Trash Can

A Dayton-area sanitation worker found a wanted suspect hiding in a trash can he was getting ready to load into a garbage truck—all captured on a police cruiser’s dash camera.

Huber Heights Police said the suspect, dubbed “Oscar the Grouch,” fled a traffic stop on foot, prompting officers to establish a perimeter for a search.

Footage shows the sanitation worker wheeling the can to the rear of the garbage truck and opening the lid, then pointing inside.

The suspect burst out of the trash and ran away, but was ultimately apprehended.
