Stadium Funding Blocked Again

A Franklin County magistrate has again temporarily blocked Ohio’s plan to use unclaimed funds to help finance the new Cleveland Browns stadium in Brook Park.

The magistrate granted a preliminary injunction on the spending, finding that the plaintiffs are substantially likely to prevail in their legal challenge of the plan.

Their lawsuit argues the plan to set aside $1 billion for a sports facilities fund—$600 million earmarked for the Browns stadium—violates due process and private property protections.

The state attorney general’s office is reviewing the decision to determine its next steps. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost opposed the plan but says he believes it is legally sound.

Second Buc-ee’s Proposed

As Ohio prepares for the opening of its first Buc-ee’s, the convenience store chain proposes building another location along Interstate 71 north of Columbus.

Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry said a petition for annexation was filed to build a Buc-ee’s near the intersection of Interstate 71 and State Route 39.

Perry praised the project, saying the travel center would bring jobs, tax revenue, and tourism to the area. “A development of this size doesn’t come around all that often,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

Ohio’s first Buc-ee’s is set to open at 6 a.m. April 6 at the intersection of State Route 235 and Interstate 70 in Huber Heights, near Dayton.

Georgian Revival Home Lists for $2.9M

An 1890 Georgian Revival home in Cincinnati hit the market for $2.95 million, offering 7,336 square feet on a 0.58-acre lot.

Georgian Revival is an architectural style that revived 18th-century British and colonial designs.

Realtors said the home stands out for both its architectural significance and well-kept condition, with five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and four half baths. Other amenities include a chef’s kitchen, an auxiliary kitchen, fireplaces, a wine cellar, and a fitness room.
