Wendy’s Plans Hundreds of Closures

Dublin-based Wendy’s will close about 300 restaurants nationwide in a move to boost traffic and profitability at other locations.

It isn’t yet known which restaurants will close. The company said the decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis over the coming months.

Interim CEO Ken Cook said the closures will target underperforming stores that do not “elevate the brand.”

DOJ Wants Bribery Conviction Tossed

The U.S. Department of Justice asked the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out the convictions of former Cincinnati city councilman P.G. Sittenfeld.

Sittenfeld, convicted in 2022 of bribery and attempted extortion, was pardoned by President Trump earlier this year.

Sittenfeld maintains he did nothing illegal in accepting $20,000 in campaign donations from undercover FBI agents posing as developers.

Early Snow Sets Records

Record early November snow fell on Cincinnati and Dayton on Monday as a winter storm swept the state.

Cincinnati’s 2.1 inches of snow broke the previous Nov. 10 record of 0.3 inches set in 1948, while Dayton’s 3.6 inches topped the day’s record of 0.2 inches set in 1960.

The storm system also brought freezing temperatures, stirring memories of some of Ohio’s coldest Novembers.
