The semi-truck driver charged in a crash that killed a family of three is under federal investigation into his identity and U.S. citizenship status.

Modou Ngom, also known as Lamine Gaye, allegedly used an alternate identity to fraudulently obtain an Ohio driver’s license, a commercial driver’s license, and U.S. citizenship.

Records reportedly show Ngom had previous crashes and driving convictions under both identities. State investigators were directed to provide the information to Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Prosecutors say Ngom did not attempt to brake in the crash this month on Interstate 71 near Columbus, in which Lynnea and Luke Soposki and their 1-year-old son, Logan, were killed.
