Trump Deal to Send GE Engines to China

Cincinnati-based GE Aerospace is set to sell hundreds of engines to China under a Boeing aircraft deal President Trump announced during his visit to the country.

The deal includes at least 200 Boeing aircraft and 400 to 450 GE Aerospace engines, Trump said. It would mark China’s first purchase of U.S.-made commercial planes in nearly a decade.

GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp was seen on Friday in Beijing, leaving a meeting at China’s National Development and Reform Commission. He was part of a business delegation accompanying President Trump on his first state visit to China since 2017.

JVIS Deal Preserves 629 Ohio Jobs

Michigan-based automotive manufacturer JVIS acquired Toledo Molding & Die, preserving 629 jobs at plants in Tiffin and Bowling Green after previously announced layoffs.

Toledo Molding & Die’s parent company, First Brands Group, had planned to shut down the two northwest Ohio plants if it couldn’t find a buyer by May 31.

First Brands initially announced the layoffs in February after an alleged fraud scheme led to the company’s bankruptcy and prompted the Justice Department to charge former executives.

USS Cincinnati Memorial Opens

The USS Cincinnati Cold War Memorial Peace Pavilion opened on Saturday at Voice of America Park in West Chester, featuring artifacts from the namesake nuclear-powered attack submarine.

The USS Cincinnati (SSN-693) spent 18 years primarily tracking Soviet vessels during the Cold War. Its sail, upper rudder, and “Big Red Machine” generator are now permanently displayed at the memorial.

Former crew members reunited for the ceremony, sharing stories from deployments aboard the submarine. The opening also included a flag-raising and recommissioning ceremony.
