Cincinnati Open Loses Top Stars

The Cincinnati Open heads into tournament week without Jannik Sinner, who withdrew Sunday with a right knee injury, joining Carlos Alcaraz among the biggest names missing from the Mason field.

Qualifying begins Tuesday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, launching a combined ATP and WTA event that runs through Aug. 23 with 23 sessions over 13 days.

The women’s draw also lost two former finalists. Jasmine Paolini, last year’s runner-up, and Karolina Muchova, the 2023 runner-up, withdrew while recovering from injuries.

The ATP draw is set for Tuesday at 3 p.m. Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, and Ben Shelton are among the men’s headliners, while Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff are among the women’s stars scheduled to compete.

Toledo Transforms Former Dump Site

A former dredged-material disposal site along the Maumee River has been reborn as Pontiac Preserve, a nearly 60-acre nature park in north Toledo, following more than seven years of restoration.

Toledo combined a $498,000 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant, local capital funds, and a $10,000 Cleveland-Cliffs donation for the $750,000 park project.

Pontiac Preserve features a one-mile walking trail, two river overlook decks, restored wetlands, permeable parking, and interpretive signs.

Lake Erie Home Listed for $3.9 Million

A 6,217-square-foot waterfront home in Marblehead has been listed for $3.9 million, blending sweeping Lake Erie views with New England-inspired design inside the gated Bay Point community.
