We’re So Close. This Is the Moment.

We’re entering the final stretch of our campaign to reach 2,000 reader-investors, and we’re closer than ever. Eleven days ago, we set out with a simple but ambitious goal: prove that everyday Americans—not corporations or political machines—can build a trustworthy, independent newsroom together.

Today, we’re within striking distance.

If you’ve been thinking about investing…If you’ve been waiting for the right moment…
If you’ve wondered whether your contribution truly matters… This is that moment.
Every new investor helps strengthen something rare in American media: a reader-owned outlet committed to honesty, fairness, and fact-first reporting. Reaching 2,000 investors means more state editions, and more accountability—without compromising our independence.

We are so close to showing the country that a different kind of media company can exist—and thrive. But we can’t finish this without you.

If The Flyover has earned your trust, we hope you’ll take that final step with us.

Article Icon 1Property Tax Reform Passes

The Ohio General Assembly passed a package of property tax reform legislation expected to save Ohioans $2 billion over three years. The bills now head to Gov. Mike DeWine for approval.

Under the legislation, automatic tax increases and those tied to reappraisals would be capped at the inflation rate over the previous three years.

House Bill 186 would increase the residential tax credit over four years, and House Bill 309 would allow county budget commissions to reduce excessive tax rates.

The changes follow a veto override earlier this year that eliminated fixed-sum emergency and substitute levies, as well as replacement levies.

Article Icon 1Religious Education Bills Advanced

The Ohio House passed a bill that would allow public schools and universities to teach about the positive influence of Judeo-Christian religion on American history.

All Democrats present voted against the bill, also known as the Charlie Kirk American Heritage Act.

Examples listed in the bill include the history of the Pilgrims, the religious background of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the religious influence on the Constitution, and the separation of church and state.

Meanwhile, the Ohio Senate passed a measure that included the Ten Commandments in a list of historical documents that can be displayed at public schools. Other documents on the list include the Articles of Confederation, the Northwest Ordinance, and the Magna Carta.
