Article Icon 1Intel Slows Construction for Ohio Plant

Intel confirmed it will further slow construction of its Licking County semiconductor plant amid plans to lay off 15% of its global workforce by year’s end.

It remains unclear if the project’s timeline will now stretch past the previously projected completion date of 2030 or 2031.

Gov. Mike DeWine emphasized that Ohio’s agreement with Intel includes enforceable hiring deadlines and said the company’s leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to the project.

Intel first announced the $20 billion facility in January 2022. Operations were originally expected to begin in 2025, but repeated delays have postponed the launch.

Vice President JD Vance will visit a Canton steel plant today to promote the One Big Beautiful Bill, President Trump’s spending and tax package that he signed into law earlier this month.

The law increases the annual child tax credit, eliminates taxes on tips, and includes strengthened border security measures, among other provisions.

Canton is located in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, a key battleground decided by fewer than 10,000 votes in the 2024 election.

Second Lady Usha Vance will also join Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine today for a book reading event at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus.

Dan Pelzer, a Columbus resident and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, compiled a list of 3,599 books he read in his lifetime before passing away at age 92.

Titled What Dan Read, his catalog features literary classics, including The Odyssey, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield. The full list went viral after it was shared on social media.

According to his daughter, Marci, every book on Dan’s list came from the Columbus Metropolitan Library. A digital copy of his reading catalog is available here.

Dear Flyover Reader,

There’s never been a more important time to support The Ohio Flyover.

We’ve got a big announcement coming in a week, and I think you’re going to love it.

In fact, this is the last time we’ll ask for your direct support for a while.

Why?

I can’t say yet, but I can tell you that we could use a boost heading into the announcement. The Flyover family of email publications has grown from a scrappy startup to a new force in the news media landscape, and that’s all because of your support. Now, we’re ready to take things to the next level.

If you’d like to give directly to the news source that’s truly unbiased—that’s for you instead of against you, as the mainstream media typically is, this is your last chance for quite a while.

I can’t wait for you to find out about our plans for the future (look for a special message from our Founder next Monday), and I would very much appreciate your donation today.
