Article Icon 1Ohio State Upset at USC

No. 2 Ohio State sputtered to a 30-18 loss at USC yesterday in true freshman quarterback Luke Fahey’s first start, with Julian Sayin sidelined by a shoulder injury.

Fahey completed 21 of 38 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown without an interception, but the defense gave up a 69-yard touchdown on USC’s second play and allowed 30 points for the first time since a 2024 loss to Oregon.

Coach Ryan Day called the loss “extremely frustrating,” saying there were “just way too many mistakes.”

Jeremiah Smith caught Ohio State’s only touchdown late in the fourth quarter, his 40th career touchdown catch, breaking former Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards’ Big Ten record. Smith also became the first Ohio State receiver with three 1,000-yard seasons.

Article Icon 1History Center Staying Closed

The Ohio History Center in Columbus, the state’s flagship history museum, will remain closed through 2030 while crews rehabilitate the building.

Home to a reconstructed mastodon skeleton and other historic artifacts, the museum closed in September over a potential problem with its fire safety system. Work was expected to end in December, but has stretched into a yearslong project.

The project is mostly funded by $58 million in state money and is part of a larger revitalization of the History Center and the Ohio Village living history site.

Dayton Children’s Hospital turned its neonatal intensive care unit into a traveling circus for Halloween, dressing its tiniest patients as lions, ringmasters, popcorn, and cotton candy.

The festivities spanned both NICUs at the hospital’s main campus and Kettering Health, and the hospital shared sneak peek photos of the event.

The circus kicked off with an Oh, the Places You’ll Go! theme, with units transformed into imaginary destinations to help patients and families escape hospital life.

Dayton Children’s said the celebration gives NICU families a bit of normalcy and a reminder that “childhood doesn’t stop at the hospital doors.”
