Article Icon 1DeWine Delivers State of the State Address

The state of our state is strong,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said during Wednesday’s 2025 State of the State address to a joint session of the Ohio General Assembly.

DeWine praised job growth and touched on several new developments across the state. He asked newly appointed Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel to create a “workforce playbook” to help fill job openings created by these projects.

In education, DeWine called for guaranteed admission to the main campuses of every state college or university for high school students who finished in the top 5% of their class.

The governor finished his address by saying: “Yes, our great State is still a work in progress, as it is with everything in life… We have the playbook. We have the team. And now, together—let’s go win.” You can watch the governor’s full address here.

Ohioans can view the first total lunar eclipse to pass over the Buckeye State in three years tonight, with the peak at 2:58 a.m. Friday morning.

Earth will pass between the sun and moon, casting a red shadow over the moon—which is why it’s known as a “blood moon.”

A partial eclipse will begin around 1 a.m., with the total eclipse starting at around 2:30 a.m. and lasting for an hour. Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to watch with the naked eye.
