Question: What major piece of road infrastructure that’s now found at intersections worldwide was first installed in Ohio?
Answer: The world’s first electric traffic signal. It was installed on the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 5, 1914. Designed by Cleveland native James B. Hoge, the system used four pairs of red and green lights wired to a manually operated switch inside a nearby control booth, with a buzzer to warn drivers when the lights were about to change.
