Former Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown officially launched his comeback campaign Monday, aiming to reclaim the U.S. Senate seat once held by Vice President J.D. Vance and now occupied by Jon Husted.

Brown previously served three terms in the U.S. Senate but lost reelection in 2024 to Republican Bernie Moreno. Brown was the last Democrat to hold statewide office in Ohio.

Husted, formerly Ohio’s lieutenant governor, was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to fill Vance’s seat after Vance was elected vice president last year.

A special election next year will decide who will complete the final two years of Vance’s original term. The seat will be contested for a full six-year term in 2028.

Columbus Navy Week is underway ahead of this weekend’s Columbus Air Show and a Navy Blue Angels performance, part of a U.S. Navy outreach program that connects sailors with communities.

Hundreds of sailors are participating in events across the city, including Navy Night with the Columbus Clippers, live music at Bicentennial Park, CrossFit Games, ArborFest, and more. A full schedule is available here.

The Blue Angels will headline the Columbus Air Show this weekend and host a meet-and-greet at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, where Galena native Rear Adm. Matthew T. Pottenburgh will speak.

Visitors to the air show can also try Navy mixed-reality experiences, simulating SEAL training, a submarine mission, or aircraft carrier flight deck operations.
