Hanukkah Attack Victims Mourned

Jewish communities in Ohio mourned the victims of the terrorist attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, Australia.

At a gathering in Bexley celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, Australian-born Rabbi Areyah Kaltmann spoke about a friend who was a victim of the attack and who left behind five children.

He also spoke of determination to honor his friend and the other victims through actions. “When we light up the world through acts of goodness and kindness, when we care for each other, when we show that hatred and bigotry and racism and antisemitism have no place, then we are continuing the message of Hanukkah,” he said.

At least 15 people died and 40 were injured in the attack.

Cities Among Best for Singles

Four Ohio cities ranked in the nation’s top 100 best cities for single people, according to a WalletHub survey that considered factors such as dating opportunities, social life, and the cost of living.

Cities with a high density of single residents and a near-even gender balance also scored higher.

Cincinnati ranked No. 16, with high scores for economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities.

Columbus ranked No. 28, followed by Cleveland at No. 29 and Toledo at No. 81. You can see the full rankings here.
