Article Icon 1Dayton Airports Land $2M+ for Upgrades

Two Dayton-area airports will receive more than $2 million in federal funding for infrastructure improvements.

The James M. Cox Dayton International Airport will receive $1.8 million to refurbish lighting and reduce debris along Taxiway W.

Greene County Regional Airport will receive $462,560 to reseal parts of its terminal and tie-down apron.

This funding is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, which provides more than $3 billion annually to airports nationwide.

Ohio State University executive vice president Peter Mohler was named the 30th president of the University of Alabama.

He will begin his duties on July 21, succeeding Stuart Bell, who served as Alabama’s president for the past decade.

Mohler spent 14 years at Ohio State, most recently overseeing the school’s research and strategic partnership initiatives. In 2023, he served as the university’s acting president.

During his tenure, Mohler helped increase annual research expenditures by $600 million, raising the total to $1.5 billion.

Tickets are now available for the Cleveland National Air Show, scheduled for Labor Day weekend at Burke Lakefront Airport.

This year’s show, set for Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, will feature performances by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet Demonstration team.

General admission tickets are $35 for adults until Aug. 25, increasing to $40 afterward. Tickets are day-specific and sold exclusively online. Tickets will not be available at the gate. More ticket information is available here.

The event will also offer interactive displays, activities for children, and a variety of unique aircraft exhibits.
