Ohio Lawmakers on Murder Suspect’s List

Three Ohio Democrats were among the nearly 70 people on a possible hit list belonging to Vance Boelter, the suspect in the shootings of two Minnesota state lawmakers.

The names of U.S. Reps. Greg Landsman, Joyce Beatty, and Marcy Kaptur were found in notes that listed lawmakers and public officials from Minnesota and other states.

In response to the Minnesota attacks, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine increased security measures for lawmakers, providing additional protection at their homes and the statehouse.

$198M Awarded Ohio in Purdue Settlement

The state of Ohio will receive up to $198 million from a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family over their role in the opioid crisis.

The nationwide settlement aims to address the devastating impacts of opioid addiction. In Ohio, opioid addiction has claimed more than 35,000 lives since 2014.

Ohio’s plan for distributing its share calls for 55% to go to the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, 30% to local governments, and 15% to the state.

Club World Cup Soccer Underway

Cincinnati is one of the host cities for 2025 FIFA Club World Cup soccer matches, with group-stage play underway at TQL Stadium and 11 other venues across the nation.

The first game in the Queen City took place on Sunday, a decisive 10-0 win for Bayern Munich over Auckland City. Three additional matches are scheduled at TQL Stadium this month.
