The NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session concluded in Dayton, with representatives from 32 member and partner nations pledging increased funding contributions and reaffirming support for Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced plans to increase defense spending, citing the Russia-Ukraine conflict, terrorism in the Middle East, and other global flashpoints.

While the assembly showcased the city of Dayton, it also brought temporary challenges for residents and businesses due to restricted access and fencing around nearly 70 acres of downtown.

City officials began reopening streets and removing barriers, guided by a staged plan to restore normal traffic in downtown Dayton.

Fifteen Ohio students are among the 243 participants in the 100th anniversary of the Scripps National Spelling Bee that began Tuesday in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

You can watch the competition on platforms owned by Cincinnati-based Scripps and on the spelling bee’s website. The finals air on Thursday.

The students qualified for the national event by winning regional spelling bees. Spelling bee competitors must be in eighth grade or lower and under age 15.
