Article Icon 1Ohio Braces for Heat Wave

Ohio is heading into its hottest stretch of the year, with highs forecast to reach the 90s across much of the state this week.

Forecasters expect five to six straight days of 90-degree heat, with heat index values likely topping 100 once humidity is factored in.

The surge is expected to bring health and air quality concerns, and officials are urging residents to take precautions before the worst conditions arrive.

Overnight relief may be limited, with lows staying unusually warm in some areas before the pattern breaks. Cooler, more comfortable air is expected to move in after July 4.

Ohio State is planning a $125 million renovation of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, the longtime home of Buckeyes football.

The project will focus on the building’s north side, adding space for locker rooms, training facilities, and team meetings. Officials expect construction to begin within 18 months.

The announcement came as the athletic department prepares to distribute $21.3 million in NCAA revenue sharing for the 2026-27 season. The money will go to the same four programs as last year: football, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball.

Football is expected to receive the largest share, underscoring the program’s central role in generating revenue for the athletic department.

Article Icon 1Ohio Joins National Time Capsule

A piece of Ohio history has been sealed away for the next 250 years as part of a national time capsule marking America’s 250th birthday.

Ohio’s contributions include commemorative pins and coins celebrating the state’s history, along with Gov. Mike DeWine’s signed State of the State address. The most notable item may be a swatch of fabric from the Wright brothers’ first flight in 1903.

The capsule will include keepsakes from across the country, creating a snapshot of the nation at the time of its semiquincentennial. The plan calls for the capsule to be opened in 2276, when the country marks its 500th anniversary.

Science & Technology

Dear Flyover Reader,

If you chose not to invest in The Flyover’s fundraising campaign but still want to support us, this one’s for you.

The Ohio Flyover will always be free. Producing it isn’t.

So, two honest questions:

Do you rely on us for news without the spin? Is fact-first journalism worth fighting for?

If your answer is yes, hear me out.

Behind every morning email is a team of real people working to bring you the news clearly and fairly, without an agenda pulling the coverage one way or the other. We don’t answer to advertisers or a corporate parent, we answer to you.

So today, we’re asking: if The Ohio Flyover has earned a place in your morning, will you chip in to help keep it going strong?

Maybe you’re wondering whether $10 really makes a difference. It does. But here’s the thing—it makes a huge difference when a thousand of you decide to chip in together.

We’ve seen it work. When we opened The Flyover up to investment, thousands of readers stepped in—not billionaires, not a corporation with an angle, just people who read this every morning. That’s how we stay independent: lots of readers, each doing a little, adding up to something no single backer could buy.

This is a simple, powerful way to support true, independent journalism.

So, will you be one of the thousand? Even $10 says you believe in what we’re building. $50 or $100 helps us grow, launch new editions, and deliver more of the news America is hungry for.

Donations from readers are an important revenue source for The Ohio Flyover, and I hope you will help if you can.

Give $10
Give $25
Give $50
Give $100

Thanks for reading—every morning, and today.
— Cole
