Ohio House Republicans voted 61-28 Monday to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto of a budget measure that aims to limit property taxes for homeowners.

For the override to take effect, 20 of 33 Ohio Senate members must also agree. A state Senate vote has not yet been scheduled.

The House override targeted DeWine’s veto of restrictions on school district property tax levies, a move the governor warned could jeopardize public school funding.

House leaders noted there were not enough votes to challenge any of DeWine’s 66 other budget vetoes.
